We have had such a wonderful vacation! My Family came into town on Tuesday, my aunt and uncle, Gee and Big Guy drove up that morning and we went on some errands then we picked my parents up from the airport. We stopped by our favorite restaurant: Gourmandise and had these yummy little critters (see below) for dessert.
On Wednesday we had these great plans to go to Thanksgiving Point and see the dinosaur museum. Unfortunately we were not ready in enough time so we had to scrap those plans. Then we drove out to Heber to go on the Heber Creeper railroad, we got there in time to see the Heber Creeper inch its way out of the train station. So we did the next best thing and drove to Granny's and ate some very good ice cream shakes!
On Thursday we were actually able to make it to the Thanksgiving Point dinosaur museum! Wahoo! It was fun to be able to see more dinosaurs than the few that we have at the Museum of Paleontology. For dinner we went to this extremely wonderful Italian restaurant called Gloria's Little Italy. I highly recommend the Gnocchi.
It seems like its been so long since we updated our blog! Here's hoping that I haven't forgot too much of whats happened these past couple of weeks...
Sean's brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Karen, invited us over to their camping site on Thursday for s'mores and Saturday for tin foil dinners. They had some really yummy Pringles that everybody loved! Especially little Reese who grabbed as many Pringles in her hand as possible and nibbled her way through the stack. It was the cutest thing!
Its been a while since the last post! So, let me catch you up on the last few weeks. We had a great memorial day weekend. We drove up to Bridal Veil falls and took some beautiful pictures. Then we we went and drove the Alpine Loop. It was the first time I have ever been, although we have tried once before, only to find it closed for the winter. It was so beautiful, but Sean drove a little too fast for me to get some really great pictures. On our way home from the Alpine Loop we stopped by the movies and saw Ironman 2, ate dinner at this yummy Philly Cheese Steak Restaurant, and then stopped by Wal-mart to pick up some seeds to grow our own herbs (the edible kind, not the smoke-able kind).

It has been so long since we went on a camping trip, so when Sean and I made plans to go camping with our friends Dani and Cory we were so excited, and not about to be deterred by a little bit of rain. :) Rain showers and thunderstorms were in the forecast all weekend. Naturally I was a little bit worried as we drove down to Aspen Canyon and we could barely see the road because it was raining so hard. But by the time we got to the camp site the rain had let up and we had a wonderful overcast evening full of yummy food, great friends, beautiful scenery, and S'mores!
When it did start to rain that night we hopped in our tents and went to sleep. Unfortunately for the rest of our camping trip the rain never really let up. When there was a bit of a lull in the rain we popped out of our tents and Sean started making breakfast burritos for everyone. The rain kept going strong all while Sean was making breakfast so we had someone stationed over the food with one of my three umbrellas (What can I say? I like to be prepared) so the eggs didn't get too runny... We ate inside the tent and had fun chatting. Since we were afraid the roads would get to muddy we called it a day and drove back home. Our tent is now out in our living room, drying out from our latest adventure.
Oh, and our herbs are doing pretty well. (For the most part. One of Sean's still hasn't sprouted) Notice the difference between my small blue flower pot and Sean's. He very neatly put 5 seeds in. While I just dumped all my seeds in hoping at least a few would grow. Turns out they all grew. They will all probably die from not enough nutrients to go around... oh well.
My wonderful grandma (the one that first let me use Nair (It burned!) and would buy me Blackjack gum) recently passed away after being on Hospice for the last few weeks. Sean and I were able to fly out to California this last Thursday night and meet up with all of my family on my Dad's side for the funeral. Only one cousin was missing. We stayed at my aunt Gee's house, where 12 of us did our best to squeeze into her leftover space (and avoid getting our stuff pooped on by Gee's vengeful cats). My parents were there, as well as my brother and his girlfriend, and my cousin and his wife and two children. It was so fun to have them all there. (Especially Jaxon and Skylee. Skylee was our little friend all weekend. I taught her to say "yeehaw!" Although there never was much feeling behind it when she said it.)
Friday was the funeral. Who knew that funerals were so time consuming and that there were so many different parts to it? First there was the viewing (It was at that time I resolved to be cremated) then there was the funeral service where all of her kids spoke. Then we went to the grave site for the grave dedication. Then it was back to the church for snacks. I think that was probably my favorite part. When I die I want to be cremated, have a quick funeral, and then lots of food for everybody!
On Saturday we had so much fun! We went to the beach for a weenie roast lunch and s'mores. We got to play in the water and dig up little shells and sand crabs (well not so much the sand crabs, those things freak me out). My grandpa, who is in his 80's rode his bike 11 miles down to the beach! I think he is in better shape than me. Then we went to a family get together and everybody played volleyball and baseball, talked, and ate dinner. For dessert we went to this amazing place just down the street from Disneyland called Joe's Italian Ice. If you are ever in the Disneyland area I highly recommend going there for the best ice cream and italian ice ever! Then we went back home and had a Nuts (Nertz) tournament. It was a pretty fierce competition!
On Sunday we played a lot of Boggle and went to church and we had lots of family over for a wonderful taco dinner, thanks to Brittany and all the other helpers. Brittany also made these awesome "Oreo cookies." I will put the recipe at the end of the blog because they are that good! My friend, Cassie was able to come over too and we played so many fun games and Sean is so proud that he won a game of Nuts!
On Monday we went to a yummy brunch at IHOP and then we went to the Tide Pools at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach. I may have taken a shell or two... Then it was off to the airport for a return to real life. How lame!
